When someone says "dirt devil" in Texas, they probably are not talking about their vacuum. A dirt devil or a dust devil is a small tornado like weather occurrence in the Panhandle area. It is produced when the wind blows across the pastures and swirls and picks up dirt as it moves along.  It can cause major damage such as blowing cars off roadways, and property damage.  Occasionally, a dirt devil will blow through a baseball or football game and the play may never stop. However, you may end up with a face full of dirt.
